Back to Basics

My "go-to" outfit has always been a flowy button down shirt and jeans. I love playing with luxurious textures, like silk, when wearing simple pieces. This silk Banana Republic shirt drapes ever so perfectly when half-tucking into my favorite pair of jeans.

I've never been one to stack on a lot of jewelry, but a simple chain brings an unexpected sparkle to this otherwise simple outfit. The length makes it perfect for double wrapping, making it look as though the necklace is layered.

What's your go-to outfit?

Bijou Minou X Old Navy

Playing with proportions--Only in California could you get away with wearing shorts in the middle of winter!

I've been looking for a camel colored coat for the longest time and this little number from Old Navy really does the trick. I love that it's double breasted and has a more loose silhouette that's perfect for layering. Pop the collar and you can be halfway between a prep and a spy! ;)

Balmain x HM

The official lookbook for the Balmain X H&M collaboration was released this past week and I just wanted to share with you guys my favorite looks from the collection. Quite a 180 from last year's minimalistic Alexander Wang collab, however, I'm really loving the opulence and over the top detailing, embroidery, and jewel tones and rich, dark colors of the Balmain collection, perfect for the upcoming holiday season (my favorite time of the year!). Typical of Balmain, the structured mini dresses, military influences, and luxerious fabrics and embellishments remain cornerstones of the collaboration.

Have you guys seen the BalmainXHM Lookbook? What are your favorite pieces?

I also enjoyed reading about The Balmain fashion house in this article. Enjoy :)

Blame It On The Whiskey

I am in love with these shoes! Funny story, I was actually about to buy them the day before they came in the mail, but for some reason decided not to. I guess it was meant to be, as I found them in my package from Piperlime the very next day! Thank You Piperlime!

These pictures were taken at night time, as you can see, because I really don't have any other time during the week. Having started my new job a couple weeks ago, I'm  at work from morning till evening, and by the time I get off it's completely dark. :( But i'm actually quite pleased with how these pictures turned out, especially since it was my first time shooting at night. These pictures are definitely a different vibe than my usual blog pictures, and if I do say so myself, are a lot edgier!

Peacock :: Asymmetrical Hems and Black Pearls

Continuing with my holiday inspired outfits! Usually around the holidays, I'm all about shiny, sparkly, brocade, etc.....and really this skirt is perfect! I love the asymmetrical hem and the intertwined peacock colors. The skirt is such a stand-out piece that I thought it would be best to keep the rest of the outfit black to make it really pop! I really never wear that much jewelry, but I'm always about pieces that make a statement, like this black pearl necklace. It's actually one extremely long necklace that I randomly twisted around a couple of times to form knots and such. I think it keeps them from looking too perfect and stuffy!
