Bijou Minou X Old Navy

Playing with proportions--Only in California could you get away with wearing shorts in the middle of winter!

I've been looking for a camel colored coat for the longest time and this little number from Old Navy really does the trick. I love that it's double breasted and has a more loose silhouette that's perfect for layering. Pop the collar and you can be halfway between a prep and a spy! ;)

Dark Side :: Distressed Denim and Jewel Toned Dots

 Happy Monday Everyone!

I actually don't wear a lot of black normally as I'm really all about that color, but sometimes it's nice to mix it up for a change. I absolutely adore this top from Club Monaco (last seen here)! I love how the purple velvet polka dots add texture and dimension to an otherwise simple blouse.

Even though it's still warm enough to wear shorts here in Southern California, I've started adding richer colors and heavier textures into my wardrobe that are more Fall/Winter-like. For this time of year, I absolutely adore jewel tones and more chunky textures like tweed and some distressed denim.

Second :: Silk and Denim

Hey everyone! I'm very excited for Fall, which I feel like I say every year, but it's true! We've been having some crazy hot weather towards the end of Summer, which seems to be cooling off now...but who knows? Over the weekend, the weather actually cooled off enough for me to actually want to wear jeans, which is where this pair of boyfriend jeans from Mother Jeans came in handy. I usually don't wear anything but skinny jeans, since it's hard to find jeans in my size and I feel like other styles just overwhelm my frame. But since boyfriend jeans are supposed to be loose anyway.....I figure it'd be a nice change from my usual look.

Let's face it, while I'd like to say that I'm all about that black and white, minimalistic look, I'm really all about color. I love bright jewel tones, especially for Fall! This silk button down from Zara is right down my ally. I could probably not wear anything but drapey button downs for the rest of my life and still be happy.....actually, I think I live in them right now! There's something timeless about a great button down shirt, and they really work in every color. I tend to buy mine a size larger than normal to get that drape effect for my half-tuck!

I topped of the look with this silk bomber jacket from Townsen. I love the abstract print and the fact that it's a neutral grey. I think it'll definitely become a staple in my closet, as I could probably throw it over any outfit!

Little Rebel :: Rose Royce Ambassador

Denim and leather is really the perfect combination. In this post, I'm wearing a denim vest from a new denim brand called Rose Royce. I've never really worn a denim vest before, so styling it was a little more difficult than I thought it would be. When in doubt, I generally go for more simple looks, and decided to wear it with my leather shorts. However, I think it'd look equally cute over a skirt or a dress!

I'm participating in yet another contest, this time in collaboration with Rose Royce Denim. Please vote for me to become their new brand ambassador on the official Rose Royce Facebook Page! You can vote once an hour and I'd be ever so greatful if you all voted for me! :)

Basics :: Wallis Competition

I'm participating in another Wallis competition! This time, it's focused on showcasing the best "transitional style" from summer to fall. I chose this black blazer, since no matter what season, a black blazer is always a good choice. While last summer, I was all about pretty dresses and frilly skirts, this summer I found myself dressing more laid back. Denim cut-offs became my go-to staple, which I like dressing up with some sky high wedges and a blazer. Blazers (even in black!) can definitely work for summer, by keeping everything else fresh and light.

I'd be so so grateful if you could vote for me in the Wallis Competition here!

Stay tuned for my second outfit featuring this blazer in a look for Fall!!

All That Glitters

Hi everyone! If you follow me on twitter, you might have already seen this necklace! But for those of you who haven't, here are a couple pictures of my new statement piece. I'm head over heels for its huge jewels, it's sparkle, and glamour. I'm pretty sure it would glam up any outfit!

Happy New Year Again!

Today is Chinese New Year, also known as "Lunar New Year." It's a really festive time in Asian culture, with lots of gifts, parties, food, and especially those little red envelopes with money inside. My family had a little party yesterday to celebrate. We had so much food, I'm still full thinking about it.

I wanted to share with you all some pictures from a fashion show I was part of last year for Chinese New Year. It was televised on TV, but I believe it was only in the US. It was such a fun experience, especially since I don't know much about Vietnamese culture in general. The dress I'm wearing is a traditional "Ao Dai" which is somewhat like the national dress in Vietnam. The designs are quite intricate don't you think? They usually come in all sorts of colors ranging from pastels to brighter hues, but red is the most traditional. I was the only one at the fashion show actually wearing a "traditional" dress with long sleeves, a high collar, and a hat. Most of the other girls were wearing very modern ones, with one shoulder designs and open necklines. I felt like the makeup artist made my makeup too dark for my skintone, but surprisingly, on TV, I looked normal. It must have been all those bright lights they used for filming! I still prefer how I do my makeup myself though.

These pictures were taken by David Chung. You can see more of his work, as well as more pictures from the fashion show here.
