Bijou Minou X Old Navy

Playing with proportions--Only in California could you get away with wearing shorts in the middle of winter!

I've been looking for a camel colored coat for the longest time and this little number from Old Navy really does the trick. I love that it's double breasted and has a more loose silhouette that's perfect for layering. Pop the collar and you can be halfway between a prep and a spy! ;)

Peacock :: Asymmetrical Hems and Black Pearls

Continuing with my holiday inspired outfits! Usually around the holidays, I'm all about shiny, sparkly, brocade, etc.....and really this skirt is perfect! I love the asymmetrical hem and the intertwined peacock colors. The skirt is such a stand-out piece that I thought it would be best to keep the rest of the outfit black to make it really pop! I really never wear that much jewelry, but I'm always about pieces that make a statement, like this black pearl necklace. It's actually one extremely long necklace that I randomly twisted around a couple of times to form knots and such. I think it keeps them from looking too perfect and stuffy!

Crimson :: Neoprene Skirt and Houndstooth Details

Hey everyone! I hope you all survived Thanksgiving and Black Friday and what not! This is what I decided to wear for my Thanksgiving celebration. I was feeling a little Blair Waldorf inspired and VERY festive. Can you tell?

Even though it's still quite warm in OC, it's cool enough to start incorporating scarves. I'm completely in love with this Emma scarf from a new LA based online store, From Dylan. It's extremely soft and i love the houndstooth print, which also comes in yellow and coral! I literally just want one of every scarf on the website now that the chilly weather is kicking in! Definitely check them out while you're doing all your online Christmas shopping!

Cutting Corners

Can we just talk about how much I adore this dress? I got this Lovers and Friends "Cutting Corners" dress sometime during Summer and have been enamored with it ever since. Dressed up or down, this dress is such a head turner, with its perfectly placed cut-outs, striking red color (my favorite!), and the fact that it's perfectly twirl-worthy. I took this dress with me on my trip to Paris during July (picture post to come?) and now every time I put it on, I'm reminded of frolicking around the cafe lined streets of Paris....Can someone send me back please?

Talking about coffee, if you follow me on Instagram, you'll know how much of a coffee addict I am. My absolute favorite place to get coffee these days is Portola Coffee Lab in Costa Mesa. It's so rare to actually find a place where you can sit down and enjoy a cup of good coffee...that's actually in a ceramic cup! If you're ever in the area, I definitely recommend checking it out!

Dark Side :: Distressed Denim and Jewel Toned Dots

 Happy Monday Everyone!

I actually don't wear a lot of black normally as I'm really all about that color, but sometimes it's nice to mix it up for a change. I absolutely adore this top from Club Monaco (last seen here)! I love how the purple velvet polka dots add texture and dimension to an otherwise simple blouse.

Even though it's still warm enough to wear shorts here in Southern California, I've started adding richer colors and heavier textures into my wardrobe that are more Fall/Winter-like. For this time of year, I absolutely adore jewel tones and more chunky textures like tweed and some distressed denim.

What are your favorite trends for Fall?

Indiana Ice :: The Perfect Bikini

The perfect bikini.

I've been a big fan of Triangl swimwear for a long time now, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to get one of my own! I chose to get the classic Chloe bikini in "Indiana Ice." The bikini is made of neoprene (a.k.a. wetsuit material) and is a lot more comfortable than I expected it to be. But lets talk about fit--when I was ordering my suit, I was really worried about how the sizing would turn out. Generally I'm always an XS in everything, but after using the live chat feature on the Triangl site and looking at the size chart, I opted for an XS on the bottom and a Small in the top. It fit perfectly!

Needless to say, I'm in love with Triangl! Now I just need one in every color! :)

Second :: Silk and Denim

Hey everyone! I'm very excited for Fall, which I feel like I say every year, but it's true! We've been having some crazy hot weather towards the end of Summer, which seems to be cooling off now...but who knows? Over the weekend, the weather actually cooled off enough for me to actually want to wear jeans, which is where this pair of boyfriend jeans from Mother Jeans came in handy. I usually don't wear anything but skinny jeans, since it's hard to find jeans in my size and I feel like other styles just overwhelm my frame. But since boyfriend jeans are supposed to be loose anyway.....I figure it'd be a nice change from my usual look.

Let's face it, while I'd like to say that I'm all about that black and white, minimalistic look, I'm really all about color. I love bright jewel tones, especially for Fall! This silk button down from Zara is right down my ally. I could probably not wear anything but drapey button downs for the rest of my life and still be happy.....actually, I think I live in them right now! There's something timeless about a great button down shirt, and they really work in every color. I tend to buy mine a size larger than normal to get that drape effect for my half-tuck!

I topped of the look with this silk bomber jacket from Townsen. I love the abstract print and the fact that it's a neutral grey. I think it'll definitely become a staple in my closet, as I could probably throw it over any outfit!

What are your favorite looks for Fall?

Fashion Faves :: Met Gala 2014

Karolina Kurkova wearing Marchesa

The Met Gala is like the Oscars of the fashion world- seriously THE MOST glamorous red carpet event of the year. I mean, who doesn't look forward to seeing the stars strutting down the red carpet decked out in Couture pieces? Of all the red carpet events, the Met Gala seems to be the time when we see the most risks taken on the red carpet, sometimes with looks not short of outrageous.

Last night's gala had lots of risk takers as well as some not so exciting looks. I feel like for an event like this, it's better to go all out than to wear something not memorable. Here's a roundup of my favorites from last night.

Karolina Kurkova's Marchesa gown was absolutely stunning. It was structured like origami, yet maintained a very feminine and fluid silhouette with a gorgeous hand-painted print. I like that she kept her hair and makeup simple, and let the dress be the main focal point of her look. Just stunning.

Lea Michele in Altuzzara
Lea Michele looks amazing in gold! Her slightly tanned skin was just glowing in this gold lamé gown from Altuzarra and she looked very grecian goddess-like. Quite a simple dress, but the gold fabric was very eye-catching.

First

I've been on a sort of hiatus for a while now, seeing as I haven't posted since....October! It seems like it's been ages, and at times I felt as though I forgot how to be a blogger. However, I really missed it all and am looking forward to starting fresh again with this post! So here it is, my first post of 2014!

If you follow my Instagram, you'd know that I actually received this dress a while ago thanks to the lovely team over at Others Follow. Based in Orange County, the brand fully embodies a laid back, SoCal vibe through their clothing that's perfect for those who enjoy simple, versatile pieces. Let me know what you think of the dress in the comments! :)

Black & White

These pictures were taken sometime in August (a while ago, I know!!!) and I never really got around to posting them. I'm wearing the Wallis leather trimmed blazer that I wore a couple posts ago for the Wallis fashion blogger contest. This is how I transitioned the blazer into fall; adding some knee-high boots and leather shorts and keeping the color scheme black and white for a classic look.

I don't really wear much jewelry at all on a normal basis or even on the blog. However, I do really love statement pieces like this necklace! I'd take one big, sparkly statement piece over small little pieces any day!

Baby Blue

I'm loving this minty pastel blazer from Choies! I'm clearly not over pastels, even though it's now Fall....but pastels can be a year round thing right? :) I layered the blazer over a printed blouse, leather shorts, and studded heels for this look, trying to play with darker tones and more "fall-like" textures. Toughening up the soft pastel color is an easy way to make an otherwise Spring/Summer stable work for Fall!

Cat Eyes::Pinkicon Circle Lens Review

A few weeks ago, I was sent a pair of circle lenses courtesy of Pinkicon. For those of you who aren't familiar with circle lenses, they're a type of contact lens that is super popular in Asia. They come in various colors and usually have an enlarging effect on the iris.

For this post I was sent a pair of lenses from the brand GEO in fire cat grey (you can find them here). I've never had the chance to wear circle lenses before this, though I've worn regular colored contact lenses in the past. In comparison to the normal "American" contact lenses, the circle lenses were much larger (mine were 15mm in diameter!). I really loved the grey color and thought they blended well with my eyes and they were quite comfortable as well. I could comfortably wear them all day without irritation.

Another difference between these lenses and regular contacts is that they last for 6 months with proper care, while regular contacts last around 2 weeks. So, while they seem expensive ranging from $20-$50 per pair, they do last a lot longer than normal contacts.

For those of you that want to try them out, Pinkicon has kindly provided a discount code! You can get $6 off any purchase of $25 or more with the code below! Go check them out!

Little Rebel :: Rose Royce Ambassador

Denim and leather is really the perfect combination. In this post, I'm wearing a denim vest from a new denim brand called Rose Royce. I've never really worn a denim vest before, so styling it was a little more difficult than I thought it would be. When in doubt, I generally go for more simple looks, and decided to wear it with my leather shorts. However, I think it'd look equally cute over a skirt or a dress!

I'm participating in yet another contest, this time in collaboration with Rose Royce Denim. Please vote for me to become their new brand ambassador on the official Rose Royce Facebook Page! You can vote once an hour and I'd be ever so greatful if you all voted for me! :)

Basics :: Wallis Competition

I'm participating in another Wallis competition! This time, it's focused on showcasing the best "transitional style" from summer to fall. I chose this black blazer, since no matter what season, a black blazer is always a good choice. While last summer, I was all about pretty dresses and frilly skirts, this summer I found myself dressing more laid back. Denim cut-offs became my go-to staple, which I like dressing up with some sky high wedges and a blazer. Blazers (even in black!) can definitely work for summer, by keeping everything else fresh and light.

I'd be so so grateful if you could vote for me in the Wallis Competition here!

Stay tuned for my second outfit featuring this blazer in a look for Fall!!

Cutouts and Florals

I love this dress! The floral print is very sweet and charming, but the dress also has a subtly sexy vibe thanks to the deep v-neck and side cutouts. This dress seems to be everywhere this summer and I can totally see why! Dressed up with heels or dressed down with flats and a denim jacket, I think this dress is so versatile and can be worn in so many different ways!

Undone :: Embellished Sweatshirt and White Jeans

Dressing it down with some white jeans and an embellishes sweatshirt. I really love how a great pair of heels can take a simple, casual outfit to a whole different level and make it seem more....polished? That, some red lipstick, and my signature "half tuck" make me feel like my outfit is less sloppy and more polished! :)

Happy 4th!!!!....even though I'm a day late :) I hope you all had fun celebrating with your friends and family!

Here's what I wore to celebrate with my own family. Dressed up a white and blue searsucker sundress with some spiked heels from Zara and of course, my red Louis Vuitton Cannes purse that I will forever be in love with!

Check out my outfit from last year's 4th of July if you haven't seen it already!

Cold Shoulder

I guess I have a thing for monochromatic dressing these days! Something about it seems very effortless, while still remaining put together and chic at the same time.

So, I re-dyed my hair by myself last week and I'm really loving how vibrant it turned out! I've had quite a few hair colors in the past, but I think red is definitely my favorite! What do you guys think?

Double Sequin

Hi Everyone!

Here's an outfit I put together last weekend with the shorts I got from Choies. I was really having a hard time finding something to wear with them, since they are quite sparkly, but I decided to play up the sparkliness with my white Sugarlips button-down that coincidentally also has sequins on the cuffs and under the collar. I do love my sparkle! :)
