Peacock :: Asymmetrical Hems and Black Pearls

Continuing with my holiday inspired outfits! Usually around the holidays, I'm all about shiny, sparkly, brocade, etc.....and really this skirt is perfect! I love the asymmetrical hem and the intertwined peacock colors. The skirt is such a stand-out piece that I thought it would be best to keep the rest of the outfit black to make it really pop! I really never wear that much jewelry, but I'm always about pieces that make a statement, like this black pearl necklace. It's actually one extremely long necklace that I randomly twisted around a couple of times to form knots and such. I think it keeps them from looking too perfect and stuffy!

Crimson :: Neoprene Skirt and Houndstooth Details

Hey everyone! I hope you all survived Thanksgiving and Black Friday and what not! This is what I decided to wear for my Thanksgiving celebration. I was feeling a little Blair Waldorf inspired and VERY festive. Can you tell?

Even though it's still quite warm in OC, it's cool enough to start incorporating scarves. I'm completely in love with this Emma scarf from a new LA based online store, From Dylan. It's extremely soft and i love the houndstooth print, which also comes in yellow and coral! I literally just want one of every scarf on the website now that the chilly weather is kicking in! Definitely check them out while you're doing all your online Christmas shopping!

Cutting Corners

Can we just talk about how much I adore this dress? I got this Lovers and Friends "Cutting Corners" dress sometime during Summer and have been enamored with it ever since. Dressed up or down, this dress is such a head turner, with its perfectly placed cut-outs, striking red color (my favorite!), and the fact that it's perfectly twirl-worthy. I took this dress with me on my trip to Paris during July (picture post to come?) and now every time I put it on, I'm reminded of frolicking around the cafe lined streets of Paris....Can someone send me back please?

Talking about coffee, if you follow me on Instagram, you'll know how much of a coffee addict I am. My absolute favorite place to get coffee these days is Portola Coffee Lab in Costa Mesa. It's so rare to actually find a place where you can sit down and enjoy a cup of good coffee...that's actually in a ceramic cup! If you're ever in the area, I definitely recommend checking it out!

Dark Side :: Distressed Denim and Jewel Toned Dots

 Happy Monday Everyone!

I actually don't wear a lot of black normally as I'm really all about that color, but sometimes it's nice to mix it up for a change. I absolutely adore this top from Club Monaco (last seen here)! I love how the purple velvet polka dots add texture and dimension to an otherwise simple blouse.

Even though it's still warm enough to wear shorts here in Southern California, I've started adding richer colors and heavier textures into my wardrobe that are more Fall/Winter-like. For this time of year, I absolutely adore jewel tones and more chunky textures like tweed and some distressed denim.

Indiana Ice :: The Perfect Bikini

The perfect bikini.

I've been a big fan of Triangl swimwear for a long time now, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to get one of my own! I chose to get the classic Chloe bikini in "Indiana Ice." The bikini is made of neoprene (a.k.a. wetsuit material) and is a lot more comfortable than I expected it to be. But lets talk about fit--when I was ordering my suit, I was really worried about how the sizing would turn out. Generally I'm always an XS in everything, but after using the live chat feature on the Triangl site and looking at the size chart, I opted for an XS on the bottom and a Small in the top. It fit perfectly!

Needless to say, I'm in love with Triangl! Now I just need one in every color! :)

Second :: Silk and Denim

Hey everyone! I'm very excited for Fall, which I feel like I say every year, but it's true! We've been having some crazy hot weather towards the end of Summer, which seems to be cooling off now...but who knows? Over the weekend, the weather actually cooled off enough for me to actually want to wear jeans, which is where this pair of boyfriend jeans from Mother Jeans came in handy. I usually don't wear anything but skinny jeans, since it's hard to find jeans in my size and I feel like other styles just overwhelm my frame. But since boyfriend jeans are supposed to be loose anyway.....I figure it'd be a nice change from my usual look.

Let's face it, while I'd like to say that I'm all about that black and white, minimalistic look, I'm really all about color. I love bright jewel tones, especially for Fall! This silk button down from Zara is right down my ally. I could probably not wear anything but drapey button downs for the rest of my life and still be happy.....actually, I think I live in them right now! There's something timeless about a great button down shirt, and they really work in every color. I tend to buy mine a size larger than normal to get that drape effect for my half-tuck!

I topped of the look with this silk bomber jacket from Townsen. I love the abstract print and the fact that it's a neutral grey. I think it'll definitely become a staple in my closet, as I could probably throw it over any outfit!

Fashion Faves :: Met Gala 2014

Karolina Kurkova wearing Marchesa

The Met Gala is like the Oscars of the fashion world- seriously THE MOST glamorous red carpet event of the year. I mean, who doesn't look forward to seeing the stars strutting down the red carpet decked out in Couture pieces? Of all the red carpet events, the Met Gala seems to be the time when we see the most risks taken on the red carpet, sometimes with looks not short of outrageous.

Last night's gala had lots of risk takers as well as some not so exciting looks. I feel like for an event like this, it's better to go all out than to wear something not memorable. Here's a roundup of my favorites from last night.

Karolina Kurkova's Marchesa gown was absolutely stunning. It was structured like origami, yet maintained a very feminine and fluid silhouette with a gorgeous hand-painted print. I like that she kept her hair and makeup simple, and let the dress be the main focal point of her look. Just stunning.

Lea Michele in Altuzzara
Lea Michele looks amazing in gold! Her slightly tanned skin was just glowing in this gold lamé gown from Altuzarra and she looked very grecian goddess-like. Quite a simple dress, but the gold fabric was very eye-catching.

First

I've been on a sort of hiatus for a while now, seeing as I haven't posted since....October! It seems like it's been ages, and at times I felt as though I forgot how to be a blogger. However, I really missed it all and am looking forward to starting fresh again with this post! So here it is, my first post of 2014!

If you follow my Instagram, you'd know that I actually received this dress a while ago thanks to the lovely team over at Others Follow. Based in Orange County, the brand fully embodies a laid back, SoCal vibe through their clothing that's perfect for those who enjoy simple, versatile pieces. Let me know what you think of the dress in the comments! :)
