Mod Squad

I hope all of you had a great Christmas! I spent the day at my aunt's house with my family having a huge dinner. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so there's no pictures of the party. I did get to take pictures of my outfit though!

The dress I'm wearing is a vintage mini from the 60's. I've always LOVED the fashion of the 60's and 70's and the "mod" era. I love the whole minidress look with bright colors etc. Have you ever watched old episodes of "I Dream of Jeannie" or "Bewitched?" I love those shows not only for the storylines, but the amazing wardrobe of the characters! How fun would it be to live in London in the 60s?

Holiday Fashion Part 2

Here we are again for part 2 of the Holiday Fashion series. When dressing in bright colors, it's best to wear simpler silhouettes. Jewel tones, such as this emerald shift I wore are great for standing out in a crowd, especially since most people tend to wear red around Christmas anyways. A shorter hemline keeps the dress fun and flirty, while the long sleeves and mock turtle neckline will keep you from getting too chilly in the winter weather. I accessorized the look with Christian Louboutin pumps and a crystal bracelet for some sparkle and twisted my hair into a chic and elegant chignon.

Want to know a fun twist to this outfit? I made the dress myself last summer!! Crazy isn't it? I think it turned out quite well though.

What will you be wearing this holiday season?

Holiday Fashion Part 1

I've been so busy studying for final exams that I didn't have time to post for the last week! But since finals are over (thank god!) I can finally concentrate on posting for the blog!

I've decided to do a series of posts on holiday fashion. It's not always easy picking outfits to wear to parties and family get-togethers. Hopefully this series of posts can be of inspiration to you all when choosing your outfits!

I'm wearing a yellow cocktail dress I bought last year in Beverly Hills and Christian Louboutin Armadillo pumps. Red lips and old-Hollywood waves really add some drama and glamour to this outfit! Accessorize with some sparkly bangles and your set for your next party!

Enjoy the pictures and keep a lookout for my next "Holiday Fashion" post!

Navy and Gold

It's getting closer and closer to Christmas now and I love hearing Christmas songs on the radio and in restaurants and stores. It really brightens up the mood and really gets me into the Christmas spirit. One of my favorite things to do is wrap presents! It's kind of a weird hobby, but I really like unleashing my creative side and using all sorts of colorful and unique papers and ribbons. But before wrapping presents, you have to buy the presents, which reminds me that I haven't even started Christmas shopping yet! I suppose I'll just have to wait until next week, when I finish my classes this quarter. Once final exams are over, I'll have plenty of time for blogging and shopping!

In this post I'm wearing gold Club Monaco shorts with a navy blue, military inspired, silk blouse. I absolutely adore these shorts because, as you may already know, I LOVE sparkly/metallic things. The shoes are suede, green pumps, which are actually extremely comfortable! The hat is also Club Monaco. I really do love Club Monaco as a brand. Their style is very much like my own, very laid back and slightly dressy at the same time. They have amazing quality and the color palettes they use are always so lovely and complementary to any outfit.

Hope you all enjoy the pictures and have a great week!

Black Friday

So while I usually steer clear of the masses of people that hoard to the malls on Black Friday, my boyfriend actually talked me into going to the mall just for fun. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE shopping, but am not hard-core enough to fight all those seasonal shoppers jumping at a good deal. However, it was a very festive atmosphere and actually not too crowded at the mall today!

Anyways, the weather gets colder by the day, so I found myself looking at pictures I took during summer. The one above is one of my favorites that I took somewhere in Newport Beach. I guess the weather here is not THAT cold compared to other places (it's usually around 60-65 F most days lately), but it's still a little cold for me to throw on dresses or shorts. I think I just get really cold really easily.

Did any of you go shopping on Black Friday? If so, what did you get?

What Are You Thankful For?

Sorry I haven't posted in such a long time, I've bee so busy with school and celebrating my 21st birthday last week (it was on the 17th)! It's so exciting to be able to drink *legally*. I have truly envied the Europeans for their lower legal drinking age, but I have finally reached this particular rite of passage. I will have to do a post on my birthday celebration/gifts eventually. All in good time.
Anyways, today I have a superlong post with plenty of pictures in honor of one of my favorite holidays! Thanksgiving!!!! What could be better than a holiday that revolves around eating good food and being around family and friends? Our thanksgiving feast was quite traditional and consisted of stuffing, candied yams, mashed potatoes, gravy, honey baked ham, biscuits, and of course a turkey! I actually made two pies for dessert, from scratch I might add. I absolutely love baking, and it'd definately one of my favorite passtimes. All of our food was home-made from scratch...except the ham, which was bought from the Honey Baked (they have THE best hams). I'm still full from eating all that delicious food!
Even my puppies got to partake in the thanksgiving celebration, as they got to eat turkey for dinner. I'm quite excited to introduce them to you with some pictures after the jump. The white maltese is Ace and the brown pommeranian is Rooney. Aren't they cute?

Lastly, my outfit for thanksgiving dinner was pretty casual and revolved around the color pink. I had my fushia Zara blazer on and a lurex sweater under with some white jeans and coral flats. I also wore one of my favorite pieces of jewelry, my Louis Vuitton flower ball pendant. It was the first piece of jewelry my boyfriend bought for me at the beginning of our relationship, so it is very very special to me.

To all who celebrate this holiday, I hope you and your families had a fun and safe Thanksgiving!

Rainy Days and Mondays

It's been raining lately, which is amazing because I had a chance to break out my rain boots!! Living in Southern California it probably rains like 3 times a year...and is mostly sunny every other day. I really like rainy weather, especially when I can just cuddle up at home with my boyfriend, some hot tea, and a good movie. It is a pain when I have class though, since walking around campus and sitting through hours of classes soaking wet is not an ideal situation.

Today I saw the new movie "Immortals," which was actually really good! I really like how they designed the costume for the gods, who were all wearing gold and seemed to be glowing all the time. It definately made them look luxe and regal. It's hard to find good movies nowadays...it seems all the good storylines have already been done and everything seems really redundant. But I highly recommend this movie if you like Greek mythology and all that stuff ( I know I do!).

Enjoy the pictures!

Petals

I wore this outfit on Sunday to go out to dinner with my boyfriend. It's quite casual, but I love how the petals cascade down the blouse. I'm not sure if you can see, but the top also has tear shaped crystals in between some of the petals as well. It makes the top so flirty and feminine and the color is so easy to wear too! I paired them with white skinny jeans and red pumps.

For dinner we went to a place called Lola Gaspar, which is in the artsy area of Santa Ana. It was one of the most unique restaurants I have ever been to and the food was superb! I would definately recommend it to any of you who ever visit the area. It definately has a very fun, artistic vibe going on. My favorite dish of the night was an autumn raviolo, which was filled with sweet potatoes and short rib and drizzled with truffle oil. I LOVE truffle oil! I can't wait to go back to try some more of their dishes!

Bows

This is one of my all time favorite dresses that I have. I remember the first time I saw it in the window at Barney's and I completely fell in love. I always told myself that if i ever went to Paris I would wear this dress. Now I have the dress and have yet to visit Paris!

I was also excited to see this dress on Leighton Meister in one of the Gossip Girl episodes a few seasons ago! Blair is my favorite character in the show, and I have to say her wardrobe is to die for!  Do any of you watch Gossip Girl? What do you think of the fashion on the show?

Wild Heart

Since summer is over, and autumn has officially begun, I decided to trade in my lighter blondish hair for a darker, warmer red hue. How do you like it?

Inspired by my new red hair, I decided to take my oxblood Louboutins for a spin. I paired them with my red Zara shorts and a gold lurex Zara sweater since the weather was warm. The garden was especially pretty today, with all of the greenery and fuschia colored orchids. Today was a great end to a very busy week filled with exams and studying.

Here's to another week everyone!

Oh Sunday

Today was such a relaxing day! The weather was cold all last week, making me feel nostalgic for summer. I guess Autumn really is here! However, it was nice to have some warm weather today to brighten up the mood. I didn't do much today; i just spent the day relaxing and had a nice long lunch.

School has kept me so busy these past few days, that even though my blog is new, I couldn't find the time to post pictures!....I really wish there was more time in a day!

Here's to a good week everyone!

Jet Setter

;
Shirt: Marc Jacobs // Purse: Louis Vuitton // Shoes: Halogen

The last day of my trip, I spent the morning at Santana Row. This outdoor shopping mall has a very laid back feel to it, with bunches of nice restaurants, bakeries, and of course great stores to shop in! My boyfriend and I had lunch at Left Bank Brasserie. The food was delicious, but my favorite dish had to be the salad with heirloom tomatoes. I normally don't like tomatoes much, but these tomatoes were really sweet and delicious! I really love walking down Santana Row as the scenery is really picturesque with lots of trees lining the streets and apartments above the shops.

To fly home, I threw on my blue Zara blazer. I always seem to get cold on airplanes. Although I know it's not really practical, I try to dress nicely to fly instead of wearing sweat pants and flip flops. I like thinking about old movies and the days when travelling was a special occasion to dress up for. Perhaps it's because i've never been on a flight longer than 5 hours? What do you wear when you travel? Do you like to get dressed up or do you like to dress down and relax?

Sight Seeker

Blouse: Lush // Shorts: Zara Basic // Shoes: Bamboo // Purse: Louis Vuitton

During my week in San Francisco, I did some sightseeing and touristy things. During my visit to China Town, I ate the best egg custard tart I've ever had in my life. Egg custard tarts are my favorite "dim sum" dish, but most places don't make them that well. I really liked walking around China Town and seeing how different the culture was from mainstream San Francisco. Around every corner were musicians playing traditional chinese instruments and groups of people playing Chinese cards and what not.

I've only ever visited the Fisherman's Wharf one other time in my life, a very long time ago. The last time I was there, I ate clam chowder from Boudin, but this time I discovered that the smaller vendors along the pier had better and fresher clam chowder! In the streets there were lots of people painted in metallic paint dancing. I took a picture of one of them above, which I thought was the best one. He really did look like a statue when he stood still!

During the evenings, my boyfriend and I usually visited small cafes and bakeries for desert. The small pastries and cakes above are from Cocola bakery, which is located at Santana Row in San Jose. All of the pastries looked so pretty I had to take pictures!

Legion of Honor

Blazer: Zara // Blouse: Audrey // Jeans: Abercrombie // Shoes: Halogen

Before going back to school, I took a trip to San Jose/San Francisco. I love museums and was so happy that I got to visit the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. I was so surprised at how much the weather fluctuated throughout the day and area up north! On this particular day, it was around 85 degrees in San Jose, but dropped to around 65 degrees when we got to San Francisco! Talk about fickle weather! I guess being from Southern California, I'm not used to extreme temperature changes, as it's pretty much the same all the time.

I really enjoyed looking at all the amazing pieces of art including ones from Monet and Picasso. I posted pictures of my two favorite paintings above as well as pictures of the beautiful architecture of the museum! Tell me, do you like going to museums?

~Jamie
