Peplum & Distressed Denim

I've been wearing shorts and dresses almost every day for....practically the whole summer. So I thought I'd change it up and wear some jeans (even though it's still ridiculously hot!). Though the daytime is almost unbearable, at least the evenings and nights are super nice and comfortable!

Hope you all have a nice labor day weekend!

Fall Wishlist

fall wishlist

Is it a little too early to start shopping for Fall?....
I must admit I'm a little sick of the hot weather lately, and am actually looking forward to cooler weather. I can't wait to layer up some slouchy sweaters and don some scarves and boots!

I'm definitely behind on the whole armcandy front. I really love the look it gives, but being rather minimalistic when it comes to accessorizing, i don't really have much to stack on my wrist. I'm thinking I need to stock up on some bangles and bracelets sometime soon? And perhaps get myself an Urban Decay Naked/Naked II palette while I'm at it. I've heard nothing but good things about it!

What are your fall must haves?

Lost In Atlantis

While I do love swishy dresses, sometimes I prefer a shift dress due to its simplistic silhouette and its ability to flatter a small frame. When I saw this one on the Sugarlips website, I knew it'd be perfect for the summer months. With clean lines and a color-blocking ruffle down the front, this "Lost in Atlantis" dress definately sets itself apart from the usually structured shift dresses. The dress has perfectly mastered a balance between the sporty look, that has been so popular this season, and an understated femininity. I'm completely smitten!

I thought the dress stood out really well on it's own, so I decided not to wear any jewelry as to not overpower the dress's chic simplicity. I paired them with my Zara heels for a pop of contrasting orange (I can't seem to get enough of the orange and blue color combination!). Tell me what you think!!!

All That Glitters

Hi everyone! If you follow me on twitter, you might have already seen this necklace! But for those of you who haven't, here are a couple pictures of my new statement piece. I'm head over heels for its huge jewels, it's sparkle, and glamour. I'm pretty sure it would glam up any outfit!

I'll Make It That Simple

I hope everyone is having a good week! I just started a new quarter at school which some of you may already know if you follow me on Twitter! So far so good though!

In this outfit post, I'm again wearing some of the new items I got last week! These heels from Zara are absolutely amazing and elegant. The style is simple, but the orange color really makes them pop with an outfit! I hope you all like this simple outfit, as it has become one of my favorites to wear during this mild spring season. I love how the light white fabrics contrast with the ruggedness of the utility vest!

Excitement!

Sorry for not posting in so long! I've been quite sick for the past couple of weeks and feel MUCH better now!

I wanted to share with you all the new purse I got. I've been dreaming of this purse since I was like...10? It's a Louis Vuitton Cannes, which was discontinued quite a while ago. I've never seen a vintage piece kept in such beautiful condition! It hardly looks used at all! I'm so excited to add this bag to my growing collection! :)

Enjoy the pictures of my other recent purchases as well!

Happy New Year Again!

Today is Chinese New Year, also known as "Lunar New Year." It's a really festive time in Asian culture, with lots of gifts, parties, food, and especially those little red envelopes with money inside. My family had a little party yesterday to celebrate. We had so much food, I'm still full thinking about it.

I wanted to share with you all some pictures from a fashion show I was part of last year for Chinese New Year. It was televised on TV, but I believe it was only in the US. It was such a fun experience, especially since I don't know much about Vietnamese culture in general. The dress I'm wearing is a traditional "Ao Dai" which is somewhat like the national dress in Vietnam. The designs are quite intricate don't you think? They usually come in all sorts of colors ranging from pastels to brighter hues, but red is the most traditional. I was the only one at the fashion show actually wearing a "traditional" dress with long sleeves, a high collar, and a hat. Most of the other girls were wearing very modern ones, with one shoulder designs and open necklines. I felt like the makeup artist made my makeup too dark for my skintone, but surprisingly, on TV, I looked normal. It must have been all those bright lights they used for filming! I still prefer how I do my makeup myself though.

These pictures were taken by David Chung. You can see more of his work, as well as more pictures from the fashion show here.

Little Things

I can't believe I made it through the first week of school! It was completely exhausting, with no time to take pictures for the blog. But I'm really happy it's the weekend now!!!

Just before my Christmas holiday ended, I ordered some scarves from BCBG.com from their BCBGeneration line. I've always been a huge fan of BCBG. I love their modern designs, fun use of colors, and the impeccable quality of their clothes. I love my new scarves, especially since I don't really have anything in these colors in my wardrobe yet. That green is lovely isn't it? Hope you enjoy the pictures!

P.S. Don't forget to "like" the new Bijou-Minou Facebook page!!!

Holiday Fashion Part 1

I've been so busy studying for final exams that I didn't have time to post for the last week! But since finals are over (thank god!) I can finally concentrate on posting for the blog!

I've decided to do a series of posts on holiday fashion. It's not always easy picking outfits to wear to parties and family get-togethers. Hopefully this series of posts can be of inspiration to you all when choosing your outfits!

I'm wearing a yellow cocktail dress I bought last year in Beverly Hills and Christian Louboutin Armadillo pumps. Red lips and old-Hollywood waves really add some drama and glamour to this outfit! Accessorize with some sparkly bangles and your set for your next party!

Enjoy the pictures and keep a lookout for my next "Holiday Fashion" post!

What Are You Thankful For?

Sorry I haven't posted in such a long time, I've bee so busy with school and celebrating my 21st birthday last week (it was on the 17th)! It's so exciting to be able to drink *legally*. I have truly envied the Europeans for their lower legal drinking age, but I have finally reached this particular rite of passage. I will have to do a post on my birthday celebration/gifts eventually. All in good time.
Anyways, today I have a superlong post with plenty of pictures in honor of one of my favorite holidays! Thanksgiving!!!! What could be better than a holiday that revolves around eating good food and being around family and friends? Our thanksgiving feast was quite traditional and consisted of stuffing, candied yams, mashed potatoes, gravy, honey baked ham, biscuits, and of course a turkey! I actually made two pies for dessert, from scratch I might add. I absolutely love baking, and it'd definately one of my favorite passtimes. All of our food was home-made from scratch...except the ham, which was bought from the Honey Baked (they have THE best hams). I'm still full from eating all that delicious food!
Even my puppies got to partake in the thanksgiving celebration, as they got to eat turkey for dinner. I'm quite excited to introduce them to you with some pictures after the jump. The white maltese is Ace and the brown pommeranian is Rooney. Aren't they cute?

Lastly, my outfit for thanksgiving dinner was pretty casual and revolved around the color pink. I had my fushia Zara blazer on and a lurex sweater under with some white jeans and coral flats. I also wore one of my favorite pieces of jewelry, my Louis Vuitton flower ball pendant. It was the first piece of jewelry my boyfriend bought for me at the beginning of our relationship, so it is very very special to me.

To all who celebrate this holiday, I hope you and your families had a fun and safe Thanksgiving!
